The aim of this course is the modeling of physical phenomena occurring in porous media using the micro‐macro upscaling approach. In particular, the periodic homogenization will be presented and applied to some selected problems concerning geosciences. The theoretical developments will be illustrated by numerical examples and experimental results.
- General issues about porous media.
- Modeling of porous media by using upscaling approaches.
- Introduction to the periodic homogenization method.
- Modeling of
- water flow in saturated and unsaturated porous media
- diffusion / dispersion / adsorption transport in saturated and unsaturated porous media.
- hydro‐mechanical behaviour of saturated porous media.
- dynamic effects in saturated porous media.
- Multi‐scale numerical simulation of some selected problems of geosciences using FEM code (computer sessions).
Two computer sessions are proposed, in which the models derived during the course will be applied to particular problems. The participants are invited to work individually or in groups of two persons, with the written guide provided by the teacher.
